Saturday Masterclass invites participants to join artist Carol Anne Connolly over two online sessions. Participants will be introduced to the methods that Carol Anne uses to generate ideas and subject matter for her artistic practice with a focus on place-based enquiry and observation techniques including photography, close looking and listening exercises. Between sessions, participants will undertake a short place-based creative project within their own 5km radius.
Carol Anne Connolly is a graduate of the National College of Art and Design, Dublin and the Huston School of Film and Digital Media, NUI Galway. Her visual art practice is primarily concerned with cultural and social ideas that relate to place in contemporary society. She draws from a variety of media, strategies and techniques to create work that is often driven by site-specific enquiry, archival research and public engagement. Through an artistic lens, Connolly seeks to investigate, represent or re-imagine contemporary ideas that relate to our shared environs. The masterclass will be delivered online and instructions on the log-in will be emailed to participants.
